Vicki Hooper, Managing Director

Victoria (Vicki) Hooper has worked in the conference industry since 1993. She started working with Venue Finders. In 1994 she formed her company Venue for Conferences in Africa. Prior to this Vicki worked in the fields of journalism, marketing and human resources. Her experience in these varied fields is extensive.

What do you love the most about your job?
It is always varied, creative, demands great attention to detail and we meet many different people from all over the world.

Right here.

What could you not live without?
My computer and my mascara!
What else would you be if you weren’t a conference organiser?
An enormous nuisance.

What is the funniest thing that has happened during a conference that you organised?
Which one? Conference or “funny event”. They always happen because we’re dealing with people.

Anything else you would like to add?
There is nothing better than having a satisfied client at the end of a conference. Conferences are fraught with pit falls and anything can – and usually does – go wrong. So having the ability to pre-empt those occurrences and lower a client’s stress levels is great.
